Many of us commute to our worksites in the Eugene/Springfield Metro area from outlying communities. The longer we spend in our cars every day, the greater the toll on our nerves, our wallets, and our environment. For many commuters, vanpooling can be a perfect solution.
Save Money—Reduce Stress
Vanpool participants save time and money on parking, gas, wear and tear on their car, and possibly reduce their personal auto insurance bills. Vanpoolers are advocates for the environment by reducing air pollution, helping to reduce traffic and demand for roads and parking facilities. Riders arrive to work with less stress and can use the time in the morning to read, sleep, socialize or do paperwork.
What is a Vanpool?
A vanpool is a group of 7 to 15 people who share the commute to and from work. The most successful vanpool programs are ones that have commuters who live and work in the same geographical area and, or course, have similar work schedules.
How Much Does it Cost?
Vanpooling costs a lot less than what you would pay to drive alone!* Each passenger pays a monthly fare to ride in the van. Fares are based on the lease cost (determined by the number of average monthly miles and the type and size of the van) and fuel expenses. Monthly fares per rider are generally between $120 and $160 per month. The more riders in the van—the lower the cost!
