Walking is the simplest alternative to driving, especially for a short trip. You get all the health benefits of exercise while commuting at a pace that allows you to experience the sights, sounds, and smells that you would miss in a car. It's easy, inexpensive, invigorating, and you don't have to fight traffic or look for a parking space.

Even if you don't walk all the way, you can still experience the benefits of walking to work in the following ways:

  • Walk to a bus stop and take EmX or The Bus.
  • Walk to a meeting point for your carpool or vanpool.
  • Once you get to work, walk to lunch, errands, and meetings.
